Stanley 84-073-8 Flat Nose Plier 6″

  • Extra-Wide Gripping Surface: The flat jaws provide maximum contact with the workpiece, making it nearly impossible for flat objects to “twist” out of the grip.

  • High-Leverage Pivot: The 6-inch frame allows for significantly more hand pressure than the 5-inch mini version, suitable for bending thicker copper or steel strips.

  • Induction-Hardened Steel: Forged from high-carbon steel and heat-treated to ensure the jaws remain perfectly flat and don’t “bow” over time.

  • Bi-Material Ergonomic Grips: Features the signature Stanley yellow-and-black handles, designed to provide a secure, slip-resistant grip even when applying high torque.

  • Finger Guards: The handle design includes integrated guards to prevent your hand from slipping forward toward the metal jaws during use.

Description

This tool is essentially a “duckbill” style plier. It lacks the needle-point of a radio plier, instead featuring wide, flat rectangular jaws. This design is specifically intended for gripping flat objects or making precise bends in sheet metal and heavy-gauge wire. Because the pressure is distributed across a wider surface area than needle-nose pliers, it is much less likely to leave deep “teeth” marks on your workpiece.
