Steam Tempered (Black Oxide) Finish The surface is steam-tempered to create a blue/black finish that excels at retaining cutting lubricants. This reduces friction and prevents “pick-up” (material welding to the flutes), which is a common failure point in deep-hole drilling.

Optimized HSS Rigidity While the added length increases the potential for flex, Dormer utilizes premium High-Speed Steel and a specialized web thickness to ensure the bit maintains maximum rigidity for straighter holes.

118° Point Geometry The bit features a standard 118° point that is robust and versatile. It is designed to work effectively across a broad range of materials, including alloyed steel, cast iron, and aluminum.

Efficient Swarf Removal The flute geometry is precision-ground to ensure that large 1/4″ chips are lifted smoothly out of the hole, reducing the risk of clogging and heat-related failure.
